Finalizing TOC and Index

I believe I have the final version of both the TOC and the index of images. I would like some input if possible. Do they look good, or should they be changed?

Title Page: Work and Final Design

I worked on the title page and went through several different versions. Below are four of the work ideas. From them I took the parts that worked best for the final design.

More Illustrator Work...

In addition to the title are work, I wanted to include feathers throughout the book.  I worked with them as single feathers and as pairs of feathers. I also worked with color until I found a set of seven colors that I liked. Below are several examples of my work, including several that will be used.

I would have included more samples, however the other files would not load and I could not figure out why. All of the above images are in use in the book.

 This image provides more of the feathers worked on in Illustrator. Not all were ultimately selected for use in the book.

Illustrator Work for Title Art

I went through several efforts to get my title artwork the way I wanted it to look.  I used Adobe Illustrator to do this work as Photoshop was not appropriate to the task.  I also had to ask several questions in order to get the program to give me the results I wanted, as this is the first time I have use Adobe Illustrator.  Below are images that reflect my progress.

 

 

The final image is the one used on the title page.

8" x 10" Dummy Pages

These are two single page dummies. I was using them to figure out how to set up the title page and the story first pages.

 

I have advanced from here to working with InDesign.  Later in the week I will share pdfs from InDesign and images from Illustrator.

Dummies: Small and Large

I have made a number of dummies for this project. Most are 4x5 in size. One is 6x9 so I could decide if I liked the size for my project.  Some of the dummies might be considered roughs. There are twelve images in this post. Please scroll down to view them all.

 


The above images are more like roughs or more advance thumbnails. They are where I visualized and considered ideas for page numbering and title page ideas.

 

 

The four images above are of the 6x9 dummy while the two below are ideas for the title page.

 

Thumbnails

I have done one page of thumbnails.  It was hard for me to think of additional ways to create thumbnails for a book.
